Going GaGa over this Lady…

Lady GaGa has made a big name for herself on both sides of the pond and particularly on the club scene with her infectious dance-pop party songs and wild, theatrical, and often tongue-in-cheek “shock art” performances where GaGa – who designs and makes many of her stage outfits -strips down to her hand-crafted hot pants and bikini top, is known to light cans of hairspray on fire and strike a pose as a disco ball lowered from the ceiling to the orchestral sounds of A Clockwork Orange!

She draws inspiration from all that is 80’s Fashion – with Cyndi Lauper being a major idol she was bound to stand out on the fashion side of celebrity…We have a couple of outfits we think would totally suit this little firecracker –with or without the teamed bikini and disco-ball pose…

Click on each image for a full profile…Enter Cyndi and Blondie please….

Until next time, rock on ladies…

And the Style Oscar goes to…………………..

If like us you were glued to the stars of the Silver Screen lastnight at the Fashion Extravaganza of the year – also known as The Academy Awards - and more to the point were anticipating, oohing, ahhing and ‘what was she thinking!’ in no particular order then here’s a little recap of our personal faves as well as some award winners of our very own!

The stunning and ever stylish Penelope Cruz found her vintage Pierre Balmain dress several years ago at a boutique called Lily et Cie. Says Pene: “I thought, some day I will come back and get this dress for something very special. And I came back to the place and I asked for the dress and it was still there and it still fit. So I do have a love affair with this dress,” Cruz explained lastnight.

This gorgeous dress paved the way for other white Oscar dresses that looked like wedding gowns although we think Pene’s was the worthiest of taking the aisle – oh and picking up the Oscar for best supporting actress was a little bonus to her evening too…

Amy Adams wore red Carolina Herrera accented with a multi-colored collar necklace by Fred Leighton –a little ott on the diamonds love - but totally loving this classic red-jewel tone satin gown –so elegant and timeless. See the Perk Up! Nights in Red Satin underneath which could make any girl feel like an award winner!

Alongside Amy we have last years best actress winner Marion Cotillard in classic Dior – a piece worthy of best supporting frock we think! And if you want to recreate that winning feeling in a more wearable version – not to mention affordable – check out our Party Sparkler below.

So until next time girls, lay out your own red carpet at home and strut your stuff Hollywood style in a fab frock -hairbrush come Oscar in hand - a sure-fire way to Perk you Up!

Last week London Fashion Week showed conscience and awareness - as well as the usual style extravaganza that emanates from the London scene - with a huge influx of ethically produced collections and certain designers such as Topshop Unique declaring they would reduce prices due to the recession.

As always, Vintage fashion is way ahead in the moral stakes but also inspiring the next hot young things such as Sienna Miller and her sister Savannah’s label ‘Twenty8Twelve‘.  They had their catwalk debut for their new-ish label and by the looks of things we can expect lots of boho-lite vintage dresses courtesy of Sienna, mixed with Charlie Chaplin-style tailoring by Savannah, who trained at Central Saint Martins.

Perk Up! Vintage has beaten the girls to it and we’ve even named some fab boho style outfits in honour of the vintage-lovin Sienna!

Check out the tunic below which we have christened ‘factory girl‘ after the character she played in said movie -Edie Sedgewick, click on for more info…

And this boho-lite style of dress Sienna adores and is inspired by… just hover and click for details

Until next time, take care

We Love the 50s Fashion era- the dresses from this time period epitomized feminine style from full circle shirtwaist dresses to wiggle dresses that celebrated every curve

Former First Lady Jackie Onassis was one of the biggest fashion icons in history. With an air of ladylike formality and youthful grace, Jackie Onassis’s style still draws inspiration for women.

We are delighted to have this beautiful 50s outfit- wiggle dress and matching bolero on offer at Perk Up!! And as you’ll see from the pictures it could easily have come from the first lady’s wardrobe! Either Jackie’s or Michelles!
