New year, new resolution, less flab and more fab! Here we go…January usually means one thing for us ladies, that is shedding the festively gained crimbo pounds in time for sporting the trends of Spring to come! And the thoughts of it are enough to send me sky-rocketing into the biccie tin too, especially that we are now living in the Baltics – and my only ensembles of late have consisted of snorkler (albeit vintage…), nose-high turtlenecks knits and the oversized rash-inducing scarf my mother lovingly knitted for Christmas – bless and curse her all at once…

So you can see, frolicking in frocks can wait a while. In the meantime sod it – embrace those curves and love them -we’ve invested enough in their upkeep after all. Besides if I’m spending my hard-earned cash on tit-to-thigh spanx I’m sure as hell gonna get good use out of them…

Yep, sit on your arse, eat, drink and repeat hourly for best results…
But for anyone out there in mid die-hard dieting craze and interested in our fore-sisters attitude to slimming and trimming take a gander …

This pic from the 1960s shows French women sitting in “slim-down coveralls” while being served low-calorie meals in a salon in Paris , shedding pounds while getting new hairdos -the idea was originated by Parisian hairdresser Roger Pasquier. Now that’s what I call a quick trim…

Even the glass has a sexy hourglass shape… Libby’s tomato juice was available as early as the late 1930′s, and was advertised heavily in women’s magazines right throughout the 40s, 50s, and 60s – and you thought tomato juice was made only for the splash in your bloody mary…we really didn’t need another good excuse but cheers to Libby!
Â

When ladies were only concerned about reducing the size of their actual footprint…my oh my if they could see us gals now, chunky ankles being the last of our unwanted lumps on show…
So if the thoughts of dieting and sacrificing the goodies during these frosty days is enough to leave you …well, cold…then follow my  personal fave New Years resolution…mo suga! …Bless those ruthless advertising men of times gone by, Mad Men indeed….Have a sweet 2010 folks x
