Vintage Inspired themes were strongly featured among the top designer collections for Spring 2009.

Everything from 50s inspired Plaids, 70s Paisley & Ethnic Prints, 60s Shift Dresses and 80s Asymmetric shapes, ruching & detailing were key.

Ruffles, sheer fabrics, sequins & embellishments were also major components amongst the top collections.

Designers like artists have always thrown an eye to the past to influence

their work. Personally I would rather own a true Picasso than a modern abstract any day ;)

Well the great news for us vintage fashionistas is that we can recreate these runway looks with ease by investing in high quality vintage pieces which cost a fraction of the designer ‘take’ whilst having the added benefit of being a complete one off!

Heres a snippet of the key trends for Spring 2009 as seen at New York Fashion Week alongside each hot new trend we have the real deal- that is iconic pieces that have inspired these collections- click on for more detail.

Donna Karan

80′s luxe was the look at Donna Karan at New York Fashion Week-Draping, Ruching  and Asymmetric tailoring with embellished neck lines were key  features amongst her collection for Spring
