Whether its a 60s style floaty floral - as seen on Sienna, long floral maxi - favoured so highly by Nicole or an edgy 80s take on the look modelled above by Jennifer Connolly - Retro florals and the return of ‘Granny-chic’ are set to be hot trends this Summer, so grab a floral anywhere from the catwalk to the high street to well…your Granny’s wardrobe if your lucky!

It’s interesting to compare fashion trends from the previous recessions with those emerging in 2009. Take these floral dresses which became huge during hard times in the 60’s and 80’s - with longer fuller skirts, more reserved necklines, wider shoulders and billowing or capped sleeves. Ring a bell? The profile is getting much wider at skirt and shoulder level, and is balanced with a longer hemline. Good news for those of us not quite ready to bare more than we gotta!

Despite recession hardship there will always be women who want great clothes at affordable prices. This gorgeous 60’s floral dress from our online store meets all ‘new trend requirements’  have a look…

The mini skirt was the fashion  phenomenon of the sixties. Hemlines rose to 7 to 8 inches above the knee.

There is some debate over who invented the mini. Mary Quant’s boutique, Bazaar, on the King’s Road, Chelsea was one of the first places that sold them in 1965. French fashion designer, André Courrèges, also added mini skirts to his fashion collection in 1965.

We love the style of the sixties and the wow factor that’s still evoked by wearing a mini or bold striking abstract prints.

Check out how fantastic J Lo looks in this 60s inspired creation…we reckon she’d look just as hot in our Mocha Mini Dress which btw is only gonna be listed for another 9 days…this is one dress that has to be worn for true appreciation -as the pics just don’t do it justice
