Another Pixie with a passion for fashion is little Miss Lott – pint sized songstress and the latest celeb to put her autograph to fabric. The singer with a singer has been asked to design two ranges of clothing for popular highstreet retailer Lipsy.

In the past we’ve seen and spoken much about Kate’s cacks, Mischa’s totes and even the delights of Beth Ditto so what’s gonna be different about Pixies celeb-highstreet collaboration? Besides the fact she’s a current chart topper and all round idol to young wans up and down the kooky end of hype street… Well she has already designed a range of charity T-shirts for River Island and Moschino and has a genuinely good eye for vintage while embracing a one-off quirky image.

She recently said: “I love what Lipsy stands for and I am very excited at the thought of working with such a talented and creative team. It’s going to be great fun’’

She will create two lines for the brand – Pixie Festival will focus on feminine vintage-inspired dresses and denim pieces, while the second-  Pixie Party will combine punk and 80s vibes in a range of animal prints and studded pieces.

And not the Kate you normally associate with vintage frocks either…the stunning Private Practice star Kate Walsh shimmered and shone at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday in LA. Accompanying her on the night was this beautiful vintage gold and green sequinned mini dress she’d picked up just earlier that day – not bad for an aul impulsive buy eh?

 

Mind you with her rich red locks and lean limbs this little number may as well have been made for her, mucho props Kate…She told a red carpet interviewer that she’d bought the dress from LA vintage boutique Decades, a store which is among the faves of retro babe Dita Von Teese, and which has just received another plethora of foot-shoppers since we reckon…

Rumer Willis – daughter of former power couple Demi and Bruce - celebrated her 21st Birthday at TAO Nightclub in Las Vegas last Saturday in a gorgeous vintage sequined lbd, Fendi shoes and vintage jewels. Joined by her extensive family and mates she certainly looked her Hollywood royalty best – I remember when 21^st parties were an outing for taffeta and crushed velvet accessorized by a helluva lot of Elnette for that must-have coiffe! Retro baby…I kinda prefer Rumer’s vintage efforts, just a little…

Dita never lets us down eh! Here she is in a fabulous 50s day dress leaving an LA nail salon a few weeks ago. No tsb’s and a messy up-do for this busy bee while out and about – this gal is the epitamy of glam day and night –shame on us mere ‘unmade up’ mortals.

Model and actress Milla Jovovich rocks this feminine vintage outfit which totally suits her lean catwalk silhouette. Milla who is getting married in a few days has gone all recessionista on us and is making her own wedding dress –a short and simple 70s style frock apparently! We cant wait to see the homemade number – although she could wear a white tesco bag collage and still look utterly amazing.

The new ‘in model’ of the mo and face of Burberry (stand back Agy), British beaut Rosie Huntington-Whitely, attended London’s Serpentine Gallery party last week looking cool and catwalk cocky in an amazing bias cut vintage maxi. She works this look like only a gal in the business can – looking retro but glam with a sequin- embellished bolero on top and pulls this off without going ott. One to copy we thinks!

And it aint the first time we’ve seen Rosie go retro – remember the star studded event that was Leah Woods wedding in December? She almost stole the show in this amazing 1940s champagne silk gown, accessorized by a gold clutch and one Tyrone Wood – bro of the bride.

And speaking of the Woods – check out Jo looking sensational in her sparkling 1940s dress and enviable shrug at the same Serpentine party, showing the gals how to pull off vintage glam effortlessly…

And at a previous happening party across town was another knock-out gown…hosting a do’ for Martini the ever gorgeous Thandie Newton who is also the new face for the brand, looked stunning in a beautiful black vintage dress with lace gold trimmed detailing. She certainly was the hostess with the mostest and suffice to say drinks were on the house…

Just who is Summer Phoenix? This could easily be the title to one of our frocks but no…this is the youngest of the famous Phoenix clan, sis of Joaquin and the late River. Actress, model, former band member and now vintage dealer – a girl after our own hearts!

In 2003 Summer, who is also married to Casey Affleck btw, Odessa Whitmore (Matt Damons ex) and Summers best pal Ruby Canner set up a recycled vintage boutique in New York. They describe their wares as ‘repurposed vintage’ clothing and called the store ‘Some Odd Rubies’. See how each word has the same first initial as each gals name? Ah yeah there it is.

With the success of their apparel in the big apple, this talented trio recently opened a second branch in sunny LA! Handier for all those Hollywood relatives and pals we reckon. In an interview Phoenix told Fashion Week Daily that she and her galpals “always went hunting in thrift stores, pinning and cutting our finds, and we always said we’d do a line of clothing.” And that’s exactly what they did.

Just like Perk Up’s revamped range the girls takes vintage pieces, which they deconstruct and rework to fit in with current styles and body types. “Every piece is one of a kind, so you won’t see anybody else in your dress,” adds Odessa. That’s what we keep telling people Odessa! So nice to see these gorgeous celebs not following high end designs and celebrating recycling and all that is vintage, we salute you!

The stores launch party had A-listers in abundance –all sniffin out those vintage bargains I’m sure -with Summer’s in-laws Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner– other guests on the night were Liv Tyler, Eva Mendes and Patricia Arquette to name a few. And although poor oul Ben doesn’t get out much lately –what with being knee-high in nappies, he rocked up to support his sister-in-law’s venture. “What these girls do is really recycling, and we should all support that,” said the actor. Ah to have a friend like Ben…
