Okay Summer may be officially over (em..did it ever begin, yeh I know…) and you students new and not so new are back to reality and gathering a hip Autumn wardrobe to fit in with your daily go-to’s. Good news is, you can do it on a budget and do it oh so well and still stand apart on campus! And no we are not suggesting you go for the Edwardian schoolgirl look – that’s even a little too vintage for us!

This season we have so much to choose from, plaids are still cool, leathers of course are ever hip, but also paired chunky knits and ditsy florals are emerging as an A/W trend – as are super short skirts, clean lines and even lingerie inspired looks –  but we might leave that to another day…

Check out some of our vintage pieces for your not –so- uniform uniform…

We ran a blog some time ago about this fabulous concept -The Uniform Project -and said we would donate some of our revamped range to help this worthy cause. Well we did and yesterday on Day 111 of the project the beautiful Sheena accessorised the now infamous lbd with one of our revamped waistcoats, adding her own unique creative flair with the ensemble!

Check it out here:

Last weekend we were awed and mesmerised by the weird and the wonderful display of hats, headpieces, fascinators and feathery caps on display at the Galway races…not to mention the sailing boat-come-headpiece that won top prize on the day, bound to keep some lucky chiropractor busy for a while!

There seems to be a massive demand for these handcrafted beauties –where once a hat was only worn to a wedding or the races –they now seem to be the ultimate accessory and the less showy fascinators can be the perfect finish to any outfit. What I love about the craft is how some milliners incorporate nostalgia with a modern twist such as the fabulous Rebekah Patterson who is based in Kilkenny city.

Her striking collection is fresh, exciting and totally unique. Rebekah custom makes pieces incorporating the clients shape face, colouring and personality – and of course matching it up to the rest of your special outfit – ensuring that every headpiece has you stamped all over it!

Check out one of her fab head-pieces above paired with a Perk Up! 70s dress.

As well as her expert millinery skills, Rebekah works on a unique range of vintage and reconstructed garments and accessories using embellished fabrics such as wool, velvet and silk. So if you’re out and about in Kilkenny city, make sure to pop by and see check out this fantastic collection!

Click on to her website for more info and a handy guide as to what shape and style hat is right for you. Thought you just couldn’t pull off a hat? Well think again:
