Looking for an exhibition with a twist? Or need a day out to quench your fashion thirst? Well get yourself to Bray before the weekend is out! Bébhinn Flood is the innovative designer behind this very special event  ‘The Art of Fashion Exhibition’ - local fashion designer with her own label, she is also a resident of The Loft Market. She explains:

”Through running my label I saw the correlation between creating one-off couture fashion pieces and other artistic forms such as painting, sculpture etc.  I’m having an exhibition opening Friday 25th June . This exhibition aims to explore the notion of fashion as an art form.  It displays how fashion is in many cases a highly-skilled art form, by showing classic craft techniques with a new fashion twist in a beautiful, sophisticated and timeless way. The show incorporates unique handmade beaded garments, textural wall pieces and knitted works with display mannequins placed looking at the pieces but wearing garments inspired by the work on the wall.”

Quirky Paloma doesn’t do tame – you may have noticed – whether it’s performing onstage or pounding the pavements looking for that next great vintage find the girl wears it well… as she shows us here.

Says miss Faith “I am never what you think. The mundane can be beautiful. So can the extraordinary.”

Her speedy rise to stardom took a massive leap last year when her debut single ‘Stone Cold Sober’ was brought forward a month because UK radio had leapt on it with such fervour that they couldn’t be stopped from playing it. New York and the title track Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful? And Upside Down quickly followed.

“It’s been an amazing year,” she giggles. “I’ve been so fortunate”. Well done you funky femme! and keep those amazing vintage fashion shows coming…

What an exciting ol time for us vintage-philes on our fair isle! Never has there been such a buzz around the vintage scene with Absolut Style at Set in Kilkenny this weekend, the Dublin Vintage Fair & Ball on April 18th and Easter fash-shenanigans at The Loft, love it!

We’ve been receiving lots of calls and enquiries thanks to a couple of recent press pieces. Firstly, a big shout out to the lovely Holly White whose fantastic Vintage article in last Sundays Independant Weekend magazine highlighted both vintage events and featured Perk Up in the shopping section, mucho thanks Holly! Check it out if you’ve got a copy, well worth a read. And if you happen to be a ‘Vogue’ girl, check out Perk Up on page 269 of the ‘Vintage Vogue’ directory, just like the infamous mag its got us feelin all bright and glossy!
